This is something that I would like to share being a new mother of 2 kids. This is not found in any auide books that you may find out there...
In one of the early mornings, i.e. preparing for sahur, my dear son woke up at 4am. Here I was wanting to prepare for sahur, dear son wanted to be with me. Well, something rang on my head - give him milk with quaker oats. Bravo! It works. But still, after that he refused to go back to bed. So in order for him to be able to literally see me, I had him lie down in the living room with his pillow while I prepared sahur.
Then came the sound of the little one, dear daughter, "It's feeding time!" Ummi and Abi were about to have our sahur. So as Ummi had her sahur, dear daughter was also having her milk. Dear son eventually sat with us at the small dining table in the kitchen. After sahur and subuh, Ummi, Abi, Ibn, and Bint went back to the room and they went back to sleep. Zzzzzzzzz.......
The above is something that was unexpected. Being parents of 2, there are a lot of unexpected incidents that happen. What to do if any unexpected incident is to happen again? Following are some pointers for me to remind myself and a guide to new parents:
1. Mentally prepare for any unexpected accident/incident to happen.
2. Do not sigh.
3. Console yourself by saying, "This is a new experience. It's part and parcel of our lives.By hook or by crook, I have to face this."
4. Think of possible solutions wisely.
5. Act upon the incident/accident.
Indeed a sahur experience that I will never forget.
