After being assessed at the Feeding Clinic by SLT Theresa and carried out the recommended activities, I noticed there are some improvements in Ibn's speech, more sounds coming out from him and lately been trying to say out words like iuck(truck), aa-i(abi).
1st Speech Therapy with Geraldine Choy
Based on her observations, Ibn is "coming along" and producing "many sounds". After I have given some information about Ibn background, she said that he will start to talk when there are peers of his age with him. At the moment, there is a slight tendency of him to baby talk due to the arrival of Bint. Following are the tasks that are recommended during this 1st visit:
1. Mouth exercise on vowels a, e, i, o, u
consonants /b/, /p/, /m/
(using 2 of my fingers to gently pull ibn's lips)
2.Continue with mouth exercise recommended in Feeding Clinic'
3.Turntaking games
4.Requesting
5.Label common object
6.Enrolment in playgroup 2008. According to the SLT, most kids upon enrolled in school, they will start to verbalize within the 1st 6 months.
I hope there's more coming out from Ibn's verbally.
