Ibn's 1st Pasting Activity

For the past few days, ibn has been taking out a bottle of glue from one of the drawers. Hence, yesterday, I let him know what the "bottle" is. He had his first pasting activity. I cut the pictures from a magazine and let him paste them onto a piece of A4 paper.

Texture
In order to know what is in the bottle, I poured some glue onto a plastic container cover and let ibn used his finger/s to apply onto the back of the pictures.

Language
Words like sticky, glue, paste are introduced in the process. Ibn is quite fast enough to be able to understand the meaning of "paste/pasting" by the end of the day. In addition, he was also introduced to the names of the pictures.

Physical Development
Through his fine-motor skills, this activity enhances on his eye-hand coordination. Ibn used his fingers to apply the glue and taking the pictures to have them pasted. At the same time it enforces on his spatial awareness. I observed that he is able to gauge the space where a picture is to be pasted onto the paper after few have been pasted.

Kids learn through play. Indeed, his masterpiece is a play to him. He had each picture torn and placed them into his folder. What amazes me is that when Abi came back from work, ibn is able to show Abi what he did by just the mention of "Show abi how you pasted the pictures." - the torn pieces and the piece of A4 paper that he used to paste them.
