Ibn's Development Follow-up

Alhamdulillah, @27 month, Ibn has his various follow-up check-ups mainly with the Dietician and Speech and Language Therapist.

With the Senior Dietician on Ibn's growth development...
- He is doing well and his weight and height are in the 25th percentile
- Not very much encouraged to continue the Nutricomp Caloric as SD expected him to get the calories from the food that he eats (naturally)
- Expected to gain another 800g in 3 months' time

With the SLT on his Speech Development...
According to the SLT,
- Ibn is talking (based on the mimick on his face, the expression showed)
- Ibn is picking up on words (though it is not shown much during the session)
- Ibn will be Teacher's Pet (not sure how true, but we will see when he enters school in March 2008)

After a month in school(April), it is expected that the Teacher arranges a Parent-Teacher Meet to review on Ibn's development/progress in school, in which it will be used as a report to the SLT during Ibn's next appointment in end April 2008.

LESSONS LEARNT DURING THE SESSION
...
1. Introduce a type of toys at a time.
Rationale: The child will have time and focus to manipulate the toys to its fullest and the child's optimum capability.

2. Put aside(hide a type of toys that have been played) in an opaque container/s
Rationale: the child can focus on the newly introduced toys.

3. Rotate the batch of toys fortnightly or once a month
Rationale: this is to ensure that the child does not get bored with the toys he has and also to excite him as each month/fortnightly there. To a child, "Hey, I have new toys" though they are the same toys played months ago.

We just can hope the Best for him and may Allah makes him a better person day by day as he grows. Ameen.

Just read something in the paper that may be of interest to you as parents. Safety is always first, right?
